To aid single moms by providing resources & assistance to help them provide for their children, so they do not have to do without.

The S.M.A.R.T Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting single mothers and their children. Our mission is to raise funds and provide essential resources such as food, clothing, and other necessities to single moms facing challenges.

We serve as a valuable resource for single mothers by offering assistance in finding child care, transportation, education, job opportunities, and more.

We believe in empowering single mothers to access the support they need to thrive and provide for their children.

At the S.M.A.R.T Foundation, we understand the importance of providing children with enriching experiences. That's why we aim to give single mothers the means to enroll their children in extracurricular activities by offering options to join and providing necessary gear.
As a newly established foundation, we are driven by the vision of expanding our reach beyond expectations to positively impact the lives of single mothers and their children. Our goal is to ensure that no single mom and her child have to go without the vital support they deserve.

Board of Directors  

Nicole Guzzardi

Founder/President

Nicole Guzzardi, Founder, affectionately known as the "Boss Babe," co-owns AG Construction Company with her boyfriend, real estate investor Billy Alvaro. Together, they are spearheading real estate developments across New Jersey, New York, and are now expanding to other states.

Nicole is a dynamic individual who adeptly balances multiple roles. As a mother of three and a recent grandmother, she holds family close to her heart. 
Adding to her impressive portfolio in real estate, Nicole founded The Committee GNO, an empowering all-women's networking platform. This vibrant community fosters connections, collaboration, and mutual support among women in business. 
Demonstrating her commitment to positive change, Nicole also established the S.M.A.R.T Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting single mothers. Driven by compassion and determination, Nicole and her devoted board provide invaluable resources, support, and opportunities for single mothers and their children. Through her various endeavors, Nicole's desire to give back and uplift women shines brightly. Her dedication and passion continue to inspire hope and make a lasting impact on the lives of many, paving the way for a brighter future for women and their communities.

Nadia Mascola

Vice President

Nadia Mascola, at the age of 19, found herself pregnant with her first daughter.  She had limited resources and found herself lost in the shuffle of figuring out what, if any, guidance she could receive at that time.   At the age of 22, after giving birth to her second daughter, she found herself a single parent.  At the time, she was very dependent on her family and friends as a support system for her and her children while she attended trade school.  During that time and after the completion of trade school, she grew to become self-reliant and gained newfound financial freedom. 

In her mid-30’s she found herself pregnant with her 3rd child, her son, with an absent father.  Nadia knows firsthand the struggles of being a single working parent and the often very lonely and stressful task of raising children on her own.  Today, she is the loving wife to her husband Matt, and together they have built a beautiful life with their blended family.  They enjoy traveling, all things outdoors, cooking together and spending time with their very close-knit family and friends.
For years, her and Nicole have dreamt about paying it forward, talking about it often while the two of them navigated through single mom life hand in hand.  For her, it is surreal that this dream has finally become a reality!  She looks forward to making a difference in other single moms’ lives. 

Oriana Calise

Secretary

Oriana Calise, a wife & mother of four teenagers who bring both chaos and immense joy into her life. Together with her husband, she co-owns Caliber Construction NY & NJ. Oriana also finds solace in baking classic Brooklyn-style treats. She Has recently decided to open up a Cafe in Howell NJ Called Jives Cafe. Despite facing continuous life challenges, she approaches life with unwavering optimism and a determination to uplift those around her. Her daughter Brooklyn holds a special place in her heart, symbolizing hope and resilience. Each of her sons, William, Steven, and Christian, contributes to her world in unique ways, from their involvement in the family business to pursuing academic and personal passions. Recently recognized for the Most Inspirational Women of the Year award, Oriana is also a published Author & continues to inspire others with her infectious positivity and unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Suzanne Demetrio

Vice Chairperson

Suzanne Demetrio is a passionate humanitarian, devoted mother of four, and an accomplished entrepreneur and community leader. A proud Rotarian for 14 years, she has served two terms as club president, living out her commitment to service and making a meaningful impact. Professionally, she thrives as a loan officer, guiding clients toward their financial dreams, and she is also the owner and creator of It’s All Gouda, where her creativity and love for connection come to life.

She shares her life with her wife, Julie, and their beloved fur babies — Enzo, Dixie, and Batman — and continues to inspire those around her with her warmth, dedication, and drive to make the world a better place.

Danielle Vaphides

Treasurer

Danielle is a single mother and accomplished executive at a top-tier consulting firm, where she leads with a commitment to excellence, innovation, and purpose. With years of experience navigating complex business challenges, she brings a unique blend of strategic insight and empathetic leadership to her work. Her journey—balancing the demands of a high-powered career with raising three teenagers—has fueled her passion for creating more inclusive and sustainable environments for working parents, especially women.

A strong advocate for mental wellness, Danielle is deeply committed to breaking down stigma and fostering open conversations about emotional health in both personal and professional spaces. She integrates wellness practices into her leadership approach, championing balance, resilience, and self-awareness as key pillars of success. Her ability to lead with compassion while driving results makes her a respected voice in both her industry and community.

Beyond her corporate role, Danielle leads a technology women’s group dedicated to supporting women in STEM and empowering women at every stage of their careers. She is also the owner of Snapjoy Studios, a photobooth rental company where their mission is to capture the joy of your event, one snap at a time ! She runs the company along with her 3 children hoping to teach them about business, finances, and time management while bringing joy to others.

In her free time, Danielle finds joy and creative expression through ballroom dance. As a Bronze 2 dancer, she spends as much time as she can at the studio and is working toward a goal of entering the competitive dance circuit in 2026. Whether she’s at work, with her family, or on the dance floor, Danielle brings energy, intention, and heart into everything she does.

Jazmin

Chairperson

Jazmin is a Mother of 3 children, community advocate, and entrepreneur; operating her catering business Jazzy Eats LLC. Originally from East Harlem, Jazmin comes to us with years of experience working within the community, creating relationships and developing partnerships with nonprofit organizations.

She spent years working with Friends of New York Nurse- Family Partnership after being a recipient of their grant to jumpstart her catering business. Jazmin oversaw the Hearts Desire Fund which awarded grants to 100 mothers in 2022 and 168 in 2023 - a total of $236,000 to support new mothers. She is proud to have made the same opportunity available to so many other new mothers.
Jazmin also developed programs to promote child development and encourage parent-child interaction; developed strategic plans and budgets; and implemented new policies and a code of ethics.

Jazmin believes in breaking generational curses and cycles of poverty in Black and brown communities by focusing on mental and physical health and educating oneself about nutritious foods that support longevity.

Through her lived experience, nurturing and charismatic personality, along with ties to the communities we serve, Jazmin hopes to make a major impact for families and the community
