The Smart Foundation Team
There are numerous socio-economic challenges in South Africa today. The Smart Foundation, with its small, dynamic team of activists was formed in August 2017 to promote education, particularly the improvement of early childhood education for the economically disadvantaged children living in rural and poverty-stricken areas of South Africa.
Malibongwe Louw – Executive Director
Malibongwe Louw is the Founder and Executive Director of The Smart Foundation. To achieve the goals of The Smart Foundation, Malibongwe works closely with government departments, particularly the Department of Social Development, municipalities, recipient communities (civil society), non-profit organizations and private corporations.
Malibongwe has an advanced diploma in Business Management and Entrepreneurship, currently pursuing a BA degree in Development Studies, worked for a number of corporations in South Africa including Sanlam Financial Services and most recently, PwC. Aside from his extensive work experience, he brings experience from other non-profit organisation as well, having served as a Director of Ilitha Youth Development Foundation. Malibongwe is assisted by a team of three full-time staff members. Projects Manager, Marketing & PR Manager and Admin Support Assistant. The organization full-time employees are assisted by a panel of external business consultants and volunteers who are frequently contracted or lend their hand to help guide The Smart Foundation strategic programmatic decisions, fundraising efforts and organizational development.
