The Smart Foundation is a Johannesburg based not-for-profit development organization aimed at providing critical support to ECD centres in need located in impoverished areas of South Africa.

We recognize the link between an environment that facilitates the holistic development of young children and growing healthy citizens. For this reason, the Foundation invest in increasing access to ECD and in strengthening and building capacity within the ECD sector.

Development Programmes

Food & Nutrition Support

 

The first 1 000 day’s offers a critical window of opportunity to address the nutritional needs of children.

Infrastructure & Facilities Upgrades

 

We support minor facilities upgrades to Early Childhood Development centres depending on the needs identified

Staff Training & Development

 

ECD Centre staff is appropriately trained and skilled to benefit the centre’s programmes for young children.

Education Material & Resources

 

We believe it is necessary that age-appropriate and safe education material be available for use by children.
